This painting is based on a series of photographs I took at the New Orleans French Quarter Festival. I wanted to communicate the joyful, jazzy hustle and bustleof this great city.

The texture in the lettering is from actual old doors in the French Quarter whose rough, worn surfaces were covered with crumbling paint. You can see the textures more clearly in these two detailed sections of the painting:
