What an event! Over 200 guests ignored the rain, dressed to impress, and joined me in celebrating the opening of my beautiful new Sutton Studios & Gallery. Greeted by Alberto, the smiling doorman, guided up the stairs by Cindy Kumagai's magnificent flower arrangements, led into the studio on a red carpet, they enjoyed a sampling of my Legendary San Francisco Mayors series, my Dance! series, the world premier of Cityshapes: Motion, Body & Soul, an artistic collaboration with modern dancer Tiffany Barbarash and musician Lincoln Adler, a performance related to my painting Feeling Good, as well as a selection of commissioned portraits I have created over the last year.
The painting featured above is Summer Afternoon, one of the paintings that was on display at the Art Soireé. Below are photos from the evening. Some of these, where noted on the images, are by Greg Crane, and prints of those can be ordered directly from him via his web site, www.gregcranephoto.com. Scroll down to see all the photos. At the very bottom of this page I have included a few of the nice words people had to say about the event.

Here's a sampling of the emails I received after the event:
Subject: Fabulous night!
Jeremy,
Congratulations! What a night, what an event. I just love your gallery, I love your art. You are such a talent and you are a wonderful person. We met some lovely people.
We are both so impressed. Love the space, love your work, love you too.

Subject: Grand Opening Art Soiree this Saturday!
Dear Jeremy:
What a show it was fantastic, the art, the music, the dancer. I had mentioned to so many people how New York it was, to be in that building and the atmosphere. You could tell everyone was enjoying themselves.
Again it was a fantastic event, you should do mixers often!
Regards,
Peter
Subject: Welcome to the Art Soireé Team!
Jeremy,
Congratulations on a successful event!
Your talents shined while everyone had a magical night.
Thanks for making me a part of the team, I had a wonderful time.
Cheers to you,
Chelsea Bowman
Subject: With Appreciation
Jeremy,
Your art soiree was a wonderful celebration of incredible work and
passion! Thank you so much for hosting an evening that has inspired
me to create rather than simply consume. (I am resolving to write
much more!)
Congratulations on a terrific evening,
RuthAnn
Jeremy:
Thank you for sending the photos from your gallery opening celebration! Michael and I had a wonderful time enjoying your new space, enjoying the dance presentation, munching on the delicious treats and mingling with some of your guests! Congratulations and best wishes for what I think will be one of the successful new galleries on the San Francisco art scene!
...And you certainly added a special touch to our engagement- thank you so much.
Love,
Sarisa
Here's a review published in ArtBusiness.com (scroll down to read the review and see photos from the evening):
“Here's a refreshing idea-- throw your own opening. And if you're pop imagist Jeremy Sutton, you throw it pro. The event includes live onstage performances, digital artimations projected onto a large screen, copious food and drink, tunes, plenty of art, plenty of pretty people, and most importantly, Sutton himself, dressed to the twelves and workin' smooth. This dude's got a future in event planning.”
