Tiffany and I are exploring the interaction and impact of shapes through the movement and forms of Tiffany's body as she dances amongst the dynamic diversity of shapes, textures, materials and forms offered by the rich tapestry of San Francisco's cityscape. The title of our collaboration is “Cityshapes: Motion, Body & Soul”. The multi-disciplinary artwork/performance is divided into five movements, each inspired by a different location in San Francisco. The photographs captured in each location have been distilled into a single painted artwork. Thus each Movement has a painting to go with it. The series of paintings created for this project, as well as the photographs, serve as inspiration and guidance for a dance performance by Tiffany. You are invited to attend the world premier of Cityshapes: Motion, Body & Soul at the Grand Opening Art Soiree in San Francisco on January 28th.
Movement III, “Fountain”, (artwork above) is based on photographs (a sampling of which is shown below) taken of Tiffany dancing in the fountain located at the intersection of California Street and Market Street. I have to take my hat off to her bravery—she was so cold that afternoon she was visibly shaking!
